From Sunrise to Sunset

CMCrochet Designs runway finale from the From Sunrise to Sunset collection

THE RUNWAY COLLECTION

From Sunrise to Sunset

An original crochet collection designed to move through the colors, clothes and rhythms of a day—from first light to nighttime stars.

The collection was designed as a progression, not just a lineup.

Inspired by the sunrises and sunsets of Fire Island—a place with deep meaning in queer culture and a meaningful source of inspiration for me as a queer designer—the runway begins with lighter pinks and blues that echo the softness of morning. As the show moves forward, the palette brightens into daylight, shifts through greens, deepens into richer sunset tones, and finally arrives at black nighttime looks with yellow details representing stars.

The silhouettes move through the day too. Early looks suggest the ease of a morning swim or casual daytime dressing; midday brings beachwear and lighter pieces for the heat; later looks such as the maxi skirt and romper bridge into evening; and by sunset and night, the collection becomes more dramatic, polished, and ready for going out. The story is carried by both color and the kind of life happening at each hour.

Every garment was conceived as an original CMCrochet design and made by hand without commercial patterns or templates. Together, the looks tell one continuous visual story.

01 — MORNING

Light pinks. Soft blues. The beginning of the day.

The first looks introduce the collection with lighter colors and an airy feel. These opening pieces capture the ease of early morning, before the collection moves into the brighter energy of the day.

02 — DAYLIGHT

Blue sky with a flash of yellow.

The bikini represented daylight: blue at the center, with yellow worked into the cover-up as a hit of sunlight. This is the collection at its brightest before the palette starts moving toward green and deeper color.

03 — AFTERNOON

Green enters the story.

As the day advances, the collection moves through green and increasingly saturated tones. The shift is gradual—each look carrying the runway a little farther from morning and toward evening.

04 — SUNSET

The colors deepen. Pinks, purples and richer tones take over as the collection reaches the visual warmth and drama of sunset.

05 — NIGHT

Black for night. Yellow for stars.

The collection closes in black, with yellow appearing as points of light—the final visual shift from sunset into nighttime. The runway ends where the day does.

Designed by instinct. Built by hand.

The looks in From Sunrise to Sunset were not copied from commercial patterns. Each design developed through the process of making it—an approach that allows proportion, texture, stitch choice and detail to evolve as the garment comes together.

Some original runway pieces are available to purchase. Others can inspire a new custom commission in another size, color, fiber or direction.
